Although Mulberry has brokered its popularity into extraordinary success above and beyond the world of leather goods, the British brand always remembers on which side its bread is buttered: accessories. Mulberry never fails to include lots of goodies in its runway shows for those of us who are more interested in what the models are carrying than what they’re wearing, and Mulberry Spring 2012 included bags of nearly every type imaginably.

There were quirky-girly evening bags with sparkly peace sings (the brand has been very successful with the hippie chic look, so I don’t blame them for running with it), the larger leather classics that we know and love in yellow patent that managed to be simultaneously soft and bright, and a couple of new takes on Mulberry’s most successful shape, the crossbody satchel. My favorite looks were the ones that mixed textures and exotics, but if you prefer your bags neutral, the collection included a surprising amount of tan and beige leather. Anne Hathaway is the face of Italian Accessories Brand TOD’s new Signature s Collection, photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, styled by Karl Templer and under the creative direction of Fabien Baron.

The campaign is aiming to reach a younger clientele with color ranges from vivid red, electric blue, violet and fuchsia to more subtle shades of lavender, beige and cream.

The Signature Collection, will be officially launched in Paris on October 1, during Fashion Week, and be available in stores from that month.

It’s been a joy to watch Victoria Beckham’s transformation into a credible fashion maven, and even more so to see her take such a keen interset in accessories. After all, what celebrity would make a better accessories designer than the woman with one of the most impressive Birkin collections in the world? Intimate and functional familiarity with the minutiae of Hermes certainly makes Beckham a more qualified candidate than most of the stars who would like it be in her (very tall) shoes.

As with Beckham’s previous accessories outings, her color story was limited; neutrals were punctuated here and there with shots of brilliant orange, and those pieces were the clear standouts of the group. The shapes were a mix between previous hits and new ideas, but they were all somewhat traditional ideas executed in luxurious ways. I’ll take the bright, citrusy tote, please.

Her new bag is gorgeous. I’m in lust with the colour. No wonder she wanted to carry it straight away.

The rest of Kate’s look included her favourite Isabel Marant striped pants, a white tee, ballerina flats and a black blazer.

I’ve been known to wear shoes immediately after buying them, but that’s because they’re usually flats replacing the heels which I can no longer bear to walk in.

We could make things better when we scrach our head.How could we make our old bag new?

I had this really useful small canvas shoulder bag, but it was so dull and boring.I also had loads of scrap materials, left over from other projects.So I selected a piece of Alexander Henry fabric to revamp the bag.I only needed a piece of material 12″ x 12″.

Step1:This is the bag I am going to use. It has a front flap with a zipped pocket.

Step2:First, remove the zip slider. Do this by snipping into the zip and sliding it off. Keep the zip in the closed position as shown.

Step3:This bag had a fabric label sewn into the seam. Snip this off close to the seam and discard.

Step4:Open the flap of the bag and lay it flat on table.

Step5:Lay a sheet of tracing paper (I’m using baking paper here) on top of flap and pin in position.

Step6:Carefully draw round the shape of the flap to make your pattern piece. Make this the exact size and shape of the flap.

Step7:Carefully cut out the pattern piece along the line you have drawn.

Step8:Place the pattern piece on the material and pin in position.

Step9:Cut round adding half an inch all round for seam allowance. You may notice I have put a little mark on the pattern piece to indicate the centre of the front flap…this is so I can centre the design on the material so it looks better when finished, I used semi-transparent paper for this, so I could see the pattern on the material through it.

Step10:Now use the same pattern piece to cut out polyester wadding. Make this the actual size of flap, do not add any seam allowance.

Step11:Lay the wadding onto the flap to check it is the exact size…if not, trim to size with sharp scissors.

Step12:Now take the wadding, lay on the wrong side of the patterned fabric, fold over seam allowance, pin down, then tack in position.

Step13:Now with right side of patterned material uppermost, lay on top of bag flap..put a few spots of glue here and there on the canvas bag flap to hold wadding in place…not too much as you don’t want it to come through to the top material.

Step14:Attach patterned material to bag flap by sewing all round edge to edge using ladder stitch, or a small hemming stitch.

Step15:Remove tacking thread, then admire your new bag!!!
