Hay!ladies! Donnot worry about how to carry your handbags when cycling

This bag which was designed  by British designer Ian Mahaffy for English cycling brand Brooks grew out of playful fashion observations within cycling.

Mahaffy observed how women carry their handbags when cycling and the problems associated with using existing saddle bags. The idea was to make the bag more integrated with the bicycle, therefore making it easier to add and remove, and ultimately, ride. Perhaps it would be easiest to integrate the bag completely into the bike? That is, to create a saddle cover that is actually a bag. And that’s just what Mahaffy did.

Leandra Medine’s musings on fashion that women love (and men presumably hate) are some of the funniest on the web and never fail to make me smile. She frequently collaborates with designers (those fierce booties in my office post are her brainchild), and one of the brands I discovered through her is Dannijo. While lusting after their bib-style necklaces, I came across these gorgeous handmade bags from Morocco. They remind me of vintage rugs cut into smaller sizes, which satisfies both the home and fashion shopper in me.

Although Mulberry has brokered its popularity into extraordinary success above and beyond the world of leather goods, the British brand always remembers on which side its bread is buttered: accessories. Mulberry never fails to include lots of goodies in its runway shows for those of us who are more interested in what the models are carrying than what they’re wearing, and Mulberry Spring 2012 included bags of nearly every type imaginably.

There were quirky-girly evening bags with sparkly peace sings (the brand has been very successful with the hippie chic look, so I don’t blame them for running with it), the larger leather classics that we know and love in yellow patent that managed to be simultaneously soft and bright, and a couple of new takes on Mulberry’s most successful shape, the crossbody satchel. My favorite looks were the ones that mixed textures and exotics, but if you prefer your bags neutral, the collection included a surprising amount of tan and beige leather.
