A robber who demanded money from a take away shop has fled the scene with two bags – of rubbish.
Police said a female worker was carrying the garbage at the rear of the Oonoonba store, near Townsville, when she was threatened by a man about 8.30pm on Sunday.
She handed him the bags and the man, unaware of their contents, took them and ran away.
The attempted robbery of a store in north Queensland has turned out to be a lot of rot.
The man is described as being Aboriginal in appearance, 175cm tall, thin clean shaven face and wearing long trousers and a black pullover jumper.
Meanwhile, police are investigating an armed robbery at Ferny Grove this afternoon.
Around 2.45pm, a man wearing a balaclava entered a McGinn Road store and approached a female worker at the counter.
He produced a long-bladed knife and ordered her to open the cash drawer.
The man leaned over the counter and stole money before fleeing the shop towards nearby bushland.
